One of the most successful outlet villages in the UK Clarks Village was developed from a group of factory buildings within the Clarks Shoe Factory site and has evolved into a unique centre with large planted squares and special holiday atmosphere.

Scheme Overview

Following on from a commission to review the MEC portfolio Lyons+Sleeman+Hoare have been involved with Clarks Village since 1999 working on the continued enhancement and expansion of the village. Work has included consultancy on the strategic development and concept design through to obtaining planning permissions, detailed design and supervision of construction.

Many of the key buildings within the village have an individuality which derives from their factory origins. At the same time unity has been achieved by the use of a palette of materials and colours. In the new phases the design in each location has sought to enhance and compliment its particular surroundings with the primary aim of maintaining the character of the village - an important factor in its continued success.

We continue to work on projects at the village and are currently developing a series of retail and leisure interventions to help the centre adapt to the evolving retail and leisure market and trends.
