Museum of Aston Martin

Museum of Aston Martin

Newport Pagnell, Buckingshire

The Museum of Aston Martin came about out of the needs of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust, which is housed in a 600 year old barn in Oxfordshire. The project is a vision for a new home, at the spiritual home of Aston Martin in Newport Pagnell on the site of its old factory, and opposite its newly refurbished Aston Martin Works.
The 22,000 sq.ft museum and archive design incorporates two of the most important heritage buildings automotive history- the former Salmon’s Motor Carriage Works and Tickford Works coachbuilder’s buildings which were incorporated into Aston Martin Lagonda. The conserved buildings provide a counterfoil to the contemporary display space which links them, and provide a new lease of life for the world’s oldest surviving, purpose-built motor manufacturing buildings.

Natural light is combined with flexible display space for a large collection of Trust cars as well as visiting exhibitions, and darker curated spaces suitable for more delicate artefacts are linked with interactive displays. A café, lecture theatre and Archive serve visitors and AMHT members, whilst safeguarding a Century of the marque’s history of crafting sports and racing cars.
